Water Utilities increasingly use computer based mathematical modelling to evaluate the design, planning and performance of water supply and distribution systems. The benefits fo be gained by using a network model depend on the quality of its construction and calibration and of course, on the input data. This document provides a Code of Practice for those involved in the construction and use of a network model. Following the standard procedures detailed will ensure the model is suitable for its intended purpose and is constucted efficiently and at minimum cost. The document can also be used as a basis for the Terms of Reference in employing a sub-contractor.
